1 Galileo and Experimental Science Read Galileo and Experimental Science (Student book pages 9-11)
Complete a Double Entry Journal (1 bullet per paragraph) while reading “Galileo and Experimental Science in you EMM Book.
Answer the question; What similarities were there between Galileo’s approach to science and the modern scientific method (State the Question, Research and Gather Information, Form a Hypothesis (prediction), Design and Carry Out an Experiment, Record and Interpret Data, Draw a Conclusion)
2 EMM Book Scavenger Hunt.
Complete the student worksheet by locating the answers in your EMM book.
3 Lesson 1: “Circuit of Inquiries”
Complete the student worksheet by completing all the tasks at each of the 8 stations.
4 Lesson 18 “Motion of a Fan Car”
Complete a Double Entry Journal after reading page 177, “Measuring Motion” in the EMM Book.
Complete the worksheet by calculating answers to the speed problems.
Complete Inquiry 18.1, 18.2 and Answer the questions for “Reflecting on what you’ve done. (pg 180)
5 Alternative Energy Use
Read “Electric Cars, Back to the Future” (pgs 30 -32)
Answer the question; What are the advantages and disadvantages of electric cars? (1 paragraph minimum)
Read “Putting the Wind to Work” (pgs 33 – 35)
Answer the question; What are the benefits of developing windmill technology to generate electricity?
6 Calculating speed and acceleration
Race Car Assessment: Create a data table and graph, and answer the questions on the student sheet.
Section 1 Assessment: Answer the questions and Create a graph for the data on the crawling babies. |
